Kaup, December 23: “Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) should work for the integration of Maharashtra and not Karnataka. It should be in Maharashtra and not Karnataka,” said Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare.
Addressing a press conference here, she said: “Belagavi is not a problematic issue. Belagavi is an integral part of Karnataka. I also said earlier that all political parties in Karnataka should unite and defeat every MES candidate in Belagavi. Kannadigas are in various states of India and they live in peace in these states. But few Marathi speaking people live physically in Karnataka, but their mind is in Maharashtra. All the people living here receive facilities from Karnataka. The act committed by the MES is an act of treason. They will be punished as they should.
Regarding Congress’ opposition to the anti-conversion law, she said, “Why is Congress opposed to the anti-conversion bill? The anti-conversion law is a wish of the people of this nation. Congress focuses solely on its minority vote bank. There have been cases where the poor have been converted by followers of some religions by attracting and loving jihad. In Mangaluru, a family of was lost due to forced conversion. To maintain the peace of society, this law is important. I want to ask DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah if they don’t want majority community votes or if they are happy with the minority vote bank. The people of Karnataka notice all these statements and acts of Congress. Shivakumar has claimed that they will remove the anti-conversion law if they come to power in 2023. They should first see whether the people of Karnataka vote them in power or not.
