‘Mainstreaming Gender’ into Basic Marine Training is a Bad Idea – World Tribune Life

The Marine Corps gave in to political correctness when it first announced in history that a platoon of 50 enlisted female recruits would be housed and trained alongside five male platoons, a military watchdog said.

“Remember, these are very young green recruits. If you introduce gender mainstreaming, you distract the kids because they’re young, they haven’t been trained to be disciplined Marines yet, ”helps Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center for Military Readiness.

Marine Corps Commander Gen. Robert B. Neller announced that female recruits will be housed and trained alongside five male platoons in the 3rd Training Battalion at Parris Island Marine Training Camp in North Carolina. South.

Donnelly said Neller caved in to the politically correct crowd after the Marines pushed back when the Obama administration sought permission for women in frontline combat units.

She argues that any gender integration should come after basic training when a new Marine is in advanced training.

“There are a lot of indications that when you bring all kinds of sexual issues into units that are supposed to be focused, you see a lot of social issues that hinder the mission,” Donnelly said.

Neller said he wanted to increase the percentage of female Marines from 8.9% to 10%.

“This quota, unfortunately, indicates that the Marines place the highest priority on political correctness over mission readiness and combat lethality,” Donnelly said.

“The Trump administration should revoke this mandate as well as all gender diversity mandates, including the 25% quotas that still apply in the Navy, Army and Air Force.”

Donnelly noted that “based on past Pentagon practice, however, the Joint Battalion’s assessments will likely focus on sociological goals, not the primary military goal: the transformation of unruly civilians into Marines.”

“Changing priorities and equivocal rationalizations do not bode well for the Corps,” Donnelly said. “President Trump is expected to appoint a new Secretary of Defense and a new Marine Commander who will restore candor and the right priorities on this issue and the broader question of whether women should serve in the infantry.”

Donnelly noted that a spokesperson for the Navy told ABC News that training camp rookie classes are typically much smaller during the winter months. Housing a female platoon with five men in the 3rd Training Battalion allows for the temporary deactivation of the all-female 4th Training Battalion.

“The excuse was lame at best,” Donnelly said. “The Marine Delayed Entry Program (DEP) sends new recruits to training camp on schedules set by the needs of the department, not the weather. Someone should find out why there aren’t enough female recruits to fill the 4th Training Battalion. Maybe young women are avoiding recruiters because they know that once they sign up, they could be sent to ground combat units on the same involuntary basis as the men.

Donnelly said officials “have also misleadingly asserted that the ‘temporary’ change will support ‘training effectiveness.’ But within a week, the Marine Corps Times reported that the female platoon co-located in the Men’s Training Battalion “may not be the last.” “

Speaking at a forum in Washington, DC, Sergeant Major Ronald Green said the service does not “make things as a one-time deal,” adding that the intention is to give everyone “the greatest opportunity for success “.

Donnelly said Green’s comment “does not recognize that training camp is not about individual“ success. ”Its mission is to transform ordinary civilians into disciplined male and female Marines.
