Semtech Announces Integration of LoRaWAN® into Cranberry Analytics’ Smart Water Metering Solution

CAMARILLO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Semtech Company (Nasdaq: TCMS), a leading global provider of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors and advanced algorithms, announced that Cranberry Analytics, an India-based water management company, chose to integrate Semtech’s LoRa® devices and the LoRaWAN® standard into its ultrasonic meters for smart water metering. India’s Panaji Municipal Corporation awarded its smart water metering contract to Cranberry Analytics for the use of its smart meters due to its reliable manual data entry and communication via LoRa modules.

“Semtech’s LoRa provides cost-effective sensors and strong signal propagation capabilities that are needed in an urban environment for deep connectivity in buildings or underground,” said Shishir Thakur, Co-Founder and CTO, Cranberry Analytics. “Considering all these factors, it became clear that LoRa and LoRaWAN would be the best choice for reliable water metering.”

Cranberry Analytics’ smart water meters allow system administrators to collect daily meter readings and water consumption data, enabling efficient water distribution planning as well as anomaly detection and monitoring. real-time leak analysis and reduced water waste. According to Cranberry Analytics, in the initial phase of the project, 3,094 mechanical consumer water meters will be replaced with ultrasonic meters using LoRa and LoRaWAN.

“Integrating LoRaWAN into Cranberry Analytics water meters will enable long-range data transmission while reducing costs and protecting customer data. The system’s communication capabilities will allow meters to be diagnosed and updated without physical intervention,” said Marc Pegulu, Vice President of IoT Product Marketing and Strategy for the Wireless and Sensing Products Group. Semtech. “Overall, the collaboration with Cranberry Analytics continues to underscore Semtech’s commitment to creating a sustainable, smarter planet through LoRa and LoRaWAN devices.”
